Pontiac Ghost Car
G'day folks,
Well, here is something really weird for you car-lovers.
This may look like some modern re-creation, but this one of a kind transparent Plexiglas Pontiac 'ghost car' model was created in 1939 and shown at that year's World's Fair in New York. It was built on the chassis of a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six in cooperation with a Plexiglas company. Only one was ever made!
This special car was made to be shown in the 1939-1949 World's Fair in New York. Pontiac wanted to give people a big surprise, and they sure did.
They worked with a company called Rohm & Haas, that had just developed a new product called “Plexiglas”. They added a clear body shell to a Deluxe Six chassis.
