Saying that the great bard of Avon had a
massive impact on the development of the English language is not an
understatement.
Apart from gracing the Earth with a great number of
immortal plays and beautiful sonnets, the genius playwright also coined
and popularized a number of new words in the English language and is
certainly among the most quoted writers in history.
But William Shakespeare’s contribution to modern English didn’t end
there. As a matter of fact, you may have made several references to the
world's greatest dramatist in your lifetime without even realizing it,
as many of the phrases he invented have become so widespread that they
