PETE WATSON
- Photography -
G'day guys,
Today I present some amazing works by a great photographer - Pete Watson. Welcome, Pete ...
I wish to improve my skills and vision of what makes a good photograph therefore I welcome constructive criticism and have learned an amazing amount from critique offered by other photographers
I
live in Weston super Mare, U, where my wife and I are foster carers for 3
children, a 14 year old, an 18 year old and a nearly 5 year old toddler. How do
I manage to get out to take photograph?
I
have re-discovered my love of this amazing hobby.
I have been avidly involved in Digital Photography for nearly 2 years, photography has again become my passion. I used to shoot on film using a Yashica 230AF SLR, approx 20 years ago.
I love the improvements that digital SLRs and the available software have made.

WERE YOU INTERESTED
IN PHOTOGRAPHY AS A KID?
Not
as a hobby but I did own a bellows camera that collapsed into a very compact
unit when not it use.
WHAT WAS YOUR
FIRST CAMERA?
My
first serious camera was an Olympus OM10 film
camera.
WHAT EQUIPMENT
DO YOU PREFER TO USE NOW?
I
have 2 DSLRs both Nikon, my initial DSLR was a D3000 entry level and I have
upgraded to a D90 which will probably be my last unless I get a great deal more
proficient. At present the D90 does everything I need in a camera. I have 4
Nikon lenses, a 35mm, a 50mm, an 18 - 55mm zoom and a 55 -105mm Micro zoom (1:2
macro lens) I have 2 other lenses a Tamron 18-270mm zoom and a Sigma 10-20mm
wide zoom.
WHEN AND HOW
DID YOU BECOME A CAMERA OPERATOR?
I sort
of fell into it in the 80's 90's after taking it up as a hobby.
WHAT DO YOU
ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The
freedom to look at subjects the way I want to view them and then get a unique
photograph.
WHAT IS THE
HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER?
For
me finding the time to get out with my cameras is something I find really hard.
Also being in the right place at the right time with the right light.
DO YOU WORK FOR
YOURSELF, OTHERS OR BOTH?
I
have my own very small business and I am hoping to start selling my work and
gaining commissions very soon. Hopefully with my approaching retirement from
the day job as a secondary school Learning Mentor, my photography will become a little
more proficient and prolific.
WHAT WERE YOU
IN A PAST LIFE, BEFORE YOU BECAME INVOLVED IN PHOTOGRAPHY?
I
have had many different interests and careers over the years. I would have to
say that being a foster carer and my current job, working with troubled
teenagers are at the top of the list.
As
far as previous interests go dinghy sailing/racing and archery top this list.
WHAT IS YOUR
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
I
believe that must be raising two amazing daughters
Now, enjoy some of Pete's work, all of which is copy-righted ...
