The Independent Photographer, an international network of photographers and photography enthusiasts, has announced the winners of its Emerging Talent Award.

Designed to bring exposure and uncover the best upcoming photographers of all ages, backgrounds and working in all photographic fields, the 2020 edition was judged by Elizabeth Krist, a National Geographic Photo Editor for over 20 years that has worked on more than 100 stories and edited at least four million photographs.

I invite you to discover the images of 10 emerging talents, whose work shows an exceptional level of quality.

Anyone who has read my award-winning book 'KY!' will relate to this post. The main character in that book, which is about bullying by the way, loved opp shops, where she could buy books cheaply. Rida Khalid, just devoured books. She would smell the old books and wonder what they had witnessed.

Here is a walk back in time when many places had mobile libraries.

Long before Amazon was bringing books to your doorstep, there was the Bookmobile! A travelling library often used to provide books to villages and city suburbs that had no library buildings, the bookmobile went from a simple horse-drawn cart in the 19th century to large customised vehicles that became part of American culture and reached their height of popularity in the mid-twentieth century. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane with this forgotten four-wheeler.
