G'day guys,

Some months ago I joined an organisation whereby you could adopt a soldier working in the field. Today it is my pleasure to introduce 'RS' as my guest. Welcome, 'RS'. Tell us what you can about what you do ...

WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU REPRESENT?

I do not represent any country with my words but I am from America.

IN WHAT COUNTRY ARE YOU LOCATED?

I am currently located in Kuwait.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT RANK?

 I am a Specialist.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO JOIN THE MILITARY? ANY REGRETS?

I chose to join the military to better myself. I don't regret what has happened to me since I joined but I still regret joining.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR SECOND CHOICE FOR A CAREER? WHY?

My second career choice would be a teacher because it is something that I truly enjoy doing.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE?

I don't feel as if I am making a difference in the big picture at all.

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE MOST IN THE MILITARY?

I admire the good soldier that follow the rules and the leaders that lead by example.

DO YOU HAVE A TEAM THAT WILL BACK YOU UP UNCONDITIONALLY?

I certainly like to think I have a team that has my back.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST ISSUES IN THE WORLD AS YOU SEE THEM?

The biggest issues in the world to me would be the survival of the human race. We need to work on survival not destruction of others.

DO ORDINARY CITIZENS UNDERSTAND WHAT SOLDIERS REALLY EXPERIENCE?

I hate to say this but no ordinary citizens don't really understand what soldiers are experiencing.

DO YOU FEEL SAFE, SOME OF THE TIME, ALL OF THE TIME OR NEVER?

I feel safe most of the time. You can never be too safe though.

DO YOU THINK MUCH ABOUT WORLD POVERTY, REFUGEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS AND HOMELESS PEOPLE?

I do, and not only do I think, but I also see poverty and homeless people all the time back in the states.

DO YOU BECOME FRUSTRATED BY THE LACK OF POLITICAL WILL?

I am overall just frustrated by politics.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE SADDEST MOMENT IN YOUR WORK?

Having another soldier take their own life.

GENERALLY, ARE POLITICIANS DOING WHAT YOU ELECT AND PAY THEM TO DO?

Not in any way shape or form.

IS YOUR COUNTRY LACKING PEOPLE OF GREAT VISION?

I would say we are.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT SOME GOOD THINGS ARE BEING ACHIEVED WHERE YOU ARE SERVING, OR IS IT A LOST CAUSE?

Where I am serving we are doing nothing.

ANY ADVICE FOR A YOUNG PERSON CONSIDERING THE MILITARY?

Go to college first.

IF YOU HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS ALL WORLD LEADERS, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

Are all of your actions truly worth losing lives?

IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO BE WHATEVER YOU WANTED, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?

A high school science teacher.

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT?

It is one of my concerns, yes.

WHAT WORRIES YOU MOST?

The unknown future of military actions.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?

I usually go work out in some way to really clear the mind.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY?

Laying out on the beach with my wife. Drinking some cold beers and just being lazy.

WHAT IS YOUR DEEPEST FEAR?

My deepest fear would have to be failure.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PLACE?

I prefer the mountains.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN PERSONALLY THREATENED?

I have been threatened on numerous occasions.

WHAT DO YOU MOST LOOK FORWARD TO?

Going back home and seeing my family and friends.

Clancy's comment: Mm ... many thanks for being so frank, 'RS'. Hope you enjoy the photograph above of green valleys and mountains. Stay safe - CT!

I'm ...
